Spider Vein Therapy
Spider Vein Therapy (Sclerotherapy)
Spider veins are small, thin, red or purple colored tiny veins that most commonly appear on the thighs, calves and ankles. Many factors contribute to the development of spider veins, including, heredity, pregnancy and other events that cause hormonal shifts. They can be of cosmetic concern to both men and women if you are embarrassed by their appearance.
Sclerotherapy is a safe and effective procedure for the treatment of spider veins, and has been used for many years. A purified solution is injected via a very thin needle (thin enough to fit inside the tiny vessel). The solution damages the inner lining of the spider veins, causing them to shrink and dissolve away. It takes a few weeks to see the full effect of the treatment of these veins, and in the meantime a temporary redness is expected at the injection site.
